Posts by Allison

Allison is currently living out the elaborate fantasy she described to her now-former staff and colleagues in early 2001. With a hearty dose of courage and absolutely no plan of action, she abruptly left her middle-management job to become a writer—and today she is doing just that in her role as Baudville's Senior Content Writer. She's here to tell you everything she's learned in her 20-years+ professional life, plus a lot more. She's wordy like that!

Our Five Best Ways to Give New Twist Top Tumblers!

I don’t know how it is in your neck of the world; but in ours it has been consistently hot and practically devoid of moisture—except for all the sweating we’ve all been doing, that is. We had a brief tease from a 15-minute downpour this week; but otherwise it’s been nothing but dry on top of dry.

If you’re getting thirsty just reading this, then I have good news! All new Twist Top Tumblers are here and ready to cool off and refresh you and your team!

Baudville's New Catalog Will Make You Ooh and Ahh!

Independence Day is on the horizon, and many of you (us, too!) will be enjoying a short week that will end with a bang! Before you pack up your picnic baskets and spray yourselves down with even amounts of bug repellent and sun screen, take a moment to browse our new catalog. It will be hitting mailboxes on July 1st and it promises to be the highlight of your work week!

As you page through, be on the lookout for our two new themes:
My Boss Thinks I'm Kind of a Big Deal and Gratitude with Attitude .

The idea for My Boss Thinks I'm Kind of a Big Deal was born out of the popularity of our Smart Sayings™ Team Shirt™. It's our best-seller by leaps and bounds, so, really, we didn't have to think too hard about this one. You love it; here's more! And bigger: like our Jumbo Ceramic Mug and Big Sip Stainless Steel Mug. Just think how great your team will feel when they get these cool gifts from you—the boss who thinks they're kind of a big deal!
Gratitude with Attitude was inspired by our concern at Baudville that our customers might not be having enough fun at work. We were kept awake for nights on end, worrying with eyes wide open until, finally: the aha! From Eye-Popping Squeezies to Playful Plants to Bendy Pens, you'll have no shortage of silliness to work with.

But just because they're silly, don't underestimate their power: the power to raise morale, lower stress, and create a more positive culture. Now that's how you can make your days all work and all play!

These new themes are just the beginning of what you'll see in our latest Baudville catalog. In all, we're introducing more than 200 new products! Didn't get a catalog? You can sign up for one here.

Enjoy, and have a safe, fun, & relaxing Holiday!

For Your Next Summer Picnic, Think Outside the Park!

If you’re on an activity planning committee at your workplace, you know how tough it can be to come up with new ideas for fun summer events. You’ve done the ballpark, you’ve done the zoo, you’ve done the ballpark (again!)…hmmm…the natives are starting to get restless for something different.

At Baudville, we’re in the same situation, which is why we decided to put our heads together and conjure up some fresh ideas. For your summer picnic this year, why not try…

Making it a Garden Party. Most cities have botanical gardens that are associated with an area university or institution. And, most have pavilions or picnic areas you can rent for an afternoon. What a great way to get outside, stop and smell the roses, and enjoy some natural beauty—all at the same time! While you’re appreciating your surroundings, don’t forget to appreciate your team with sunny gifts from our Thanks for Making a Difference theme

Visiting a Nature Preserve. Here’s another way to soak in the summer weather while also connecting with the environment and learning about wildlife. If your activities involve employees’ families, this is a perfect opportunity for kids and adults alike to explore a little and play a little, too! Want the perfect giveaway? Stay on theme with our Growing Together gifts. Now, get out those rain boots and go spot some tadpoles!

High 5 for Friday: Salad Bars, Sports Cars, and More!

It's been a busy week at Baudville, as we hustle to get all of our work done. Between preparing for our next catalog, being on our best behavior for a new intern, and trying to stay on top of our wellness initiatives, it's been a bit crazyville around here. But, even during wild times, we always find our high five moments. These are mine:

1. Community Salad Bars. As part of our
10-week fitness challenge, we've arranged for a bi-weekly salad bar brought to us by participating teams. Each time, two of our teams collaborate to bring in salad toppings and our company provides the lettuce and salad dressings. We're on our second one, now, and we're pretty much experts!

2. Convertibles! This wonderful weather we've been having has inspired a few of us to enjoy the wind in our hair and the bugs in our teeth! I captured two Baudvillians showing off their rides in the parking lot. Wait, am I seeing double?!

3. Freedom Passes! Reward your hardworking team with these easy downloadable Freedom Passes. You'd be surprised what we'll do to make sure we're prepared and ready to go, should a manager stop by at about 4:00 on Friday afternoon and grant us the rest of the day off. (Hint, hint.) You can download them here, share the freedom!

4. New Products. I have sworn an oath to never give away the details of our
new products before they're on the shelves (so to speak), but I can tell you that we have about 150 coming your way on July 1st. We're photographing them this week, and I have to tell you: they are supremely awesome! Stay tuned!

5. Abundant Showers Bring Abundant Flowers. We do live in Michigan, so one moment we're basking in the sun and then 15 minutes later we're running from the rain—downpouring rain that lasts for three days straight! If there's a great thing about it, it has to be what it does for the garden. Mine is now bursting with blooms...and, hey: the sun is back out!

Four Expert Tips for Making Workplace Wellness Work for You!

Workplace wellness initiatives have become top of mind for many businesses these days—and with good reason!

For companies, healthier employees mean reduced healthcare costs, less absenteeism, and higher productivity. For employees, being healthier not only feels good, it can improve morale and self-esteem, plus reduce their own healthcare costs as well.

If you don't have a workplace wellness plan in place already, follow these steps to start yours today!

1. Get Buy-In. You'll have the most success with your program if your company's leadership is supportive of your effort—after all, you will need dedicated time and both physical and financial resources to make it successful. Just remember: what you put into it can pay off substantially in the long run.

2. Form a Wellness Team. You probably have a few wellness champions in your midst (you know the ones: the sneaker sporting, veggie noshing, lunch break calisthenics folks). If you can recruit them to help out, you'll not only tap into their enthusiasm, you'll also benefit from their fitness and nutritional knowledge.

3. Start Simply. At Baudville, we started with a 10-week fitness challenge. We've been perfecting that for three years, now, and every year we learn more. Plus, now that we know what we're doing, we've added a holiday weight maintenance contest to the end of the year and plan for more year-round efforts in the future.

4. Imagine, Believe, Achieve! A little encouragement can create a lotta results, so we've discovered. Promote your program and stimulate some healthy habits with wellness-inspired giveaways.

  • Drinkware gifts are a great way to help your employees increase their water intake. The recommended amount is 48 oz. per day—and that's unsweetened (including artificial sweeteners!) and un-caffeinated. You know, just good ol' water! Our water bottles feature great messages to inspire your team, plus they're reusable, so they help reduce waste.

  • Cooler Bags are a terrific gift that can inspire healthier eating. Meals prepared at home with fresh ingredients are leaps and bounds more healthy than processed or fast foods. Homemade meals are also typically less expensive, which makes them a win-win!

  • Team Shirts™ are ideal for shouting your wellness program loud and proud! Your team members can wear them to runs or walks, at the gym, on casual days, or just out and about. Encourage them to wear their shirts for your next all staff meeting or work event and you'll create a sense of belonging and unity around a common goal.
