Weddings, wedding, weddings! There must be love potion in the water at the ‘Ville, as it seems everyone is tying the knot lately. Last month, Alan was getting ready for his wedding, and just recently Lisa recited her vows. In the last couple of months, members of our sales suite and IDville did, too.

Lisa, who is our Client Services Manager for hi5, happens to sit right near me, so I got to hear all the updates about her nuptials—and how the Imagine the Possibilities™ card she got for her Baudville anniversary was a part of it all! Here’s her story:

At 11:30 on the Sunday night before last, I stepped off a plane after a whirlwind weekend in New York City. Then, just four days later, my parents pulled in my driveway and I hopped in their car for a road trip to Iowa. Talk about two ends of the spectrum: sky-high buildings, swarming streets, and foreign accents were replaced with top hat-high corn, long stretches of desolation, and mid-western drawls. Now I’m back at work trying to make sense of it all.

Can you believe Baudville was without an HR manager for six months? It seems crazy—mostly, I guess, to those who were trying to maneuver this ship without one. But, if it proves anything, it’s that we are committed to our stance that hiring slow is an onboarding best practice. And, now that we have the perfect candidate in place, we can pat ourselves on the back for our diligence. Whew!

Amy has been with us since the beginning of May—just in time to help reinstitute our summer flex time policy, put recruiting into high gear, and attend SHRM with the rest of the team. If this hasn’t blown her hair back a little, then she must be using Extra Super Hold Aqua Net!

I caught up with Amy recently to see how she’s braving this new adventure, and this is what she had to say:

I’ve been frighteningly forgetful lately. Bills have gone unpaid, birthdays have gone unremembered, promises have gone unkept. Ugh. I’m about to be chased out of the city by an angry mob! The problem is, for many years, I could rely on just my brain: it connected special dates with other significant events and assigned meaning to the passing of time. I could trust it. But, no more.

I just learned a new buzzword, and while we could all do with a lot less office jargon, this is one that should catch on—and it has nothing to do with silos, low hanging fruit, or bandwidth. Thank goodness! The word is feedforward: someone’s clever re-thinking of the word feedback. Why am I so excited about it?
