I have a confession: last week I announced on Facebook that I would be taking a Facebreak. I probably didn't need to broadcast this little tidbit, except that making it public was definitely a good way to keep me accountable to my promise. But, that's not the confession part…the sad truth is that I only lasted a wimpy three days before I was logged back in and plugged back in—just like that.

Why is this a big deal? It isn't in the grand scheme of things, but it is considering how much research and writing and soapboxing I've been doing about our over-dependence on technology, as well as our lack of mindfulness when we are tuned in to our devices. In short, I was having a walk the talk moment.

Well  we thought since summer is winding down and everyone is heading back to school  – instead of moping around because summer is over, let's celebrate! And what's  the best way to give our customers what they want? A sale, of course!

There is no doubt that your social media feed has been full of videos of people completing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Before the social media extravaganza that brought awareness to this debilitating disease, I had only heard of Lou Gehrig's disease. I had no idea what it was or how many people were affected by it. Now that the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has swept the nation by storm, I have done my research and know exactly what it is and you probably do, too. Or, like many of us, you have a personal connection to ALS through a friend, acquaintance, or loved one.  

Most of us think of Labor Day weekend as summer coming to an end: kids are heading back to school and it's usually the last vacation families will take for a while. As sad as it is, it's the truth! Summer is coming to an end, and it's back to routines and business for so many of us.

In my research of the true meaning of Labor Day, I came across some fun facts I wanted to share with you.

CSW is celebrated October  6-10, and right now that seems like light years away, but it really is right  around the corner!
