At Baudville, we've been preparing for the 2014 SHRM Annual Conference & Exposition for the last several months. Now, here it is less than a week away and many of us are breathing a collective sigh of relief knowing the only thing left to do really is show up. Show up and WOW the socks off everyone who visits us at Booth 1379, that is!

Over the course of a career, there are so many moments, and professional achievements can be some of the most important—and potentially life changing. I talked with a few of my co-workers about the growth opportunities they've earned here at the ‘ville and here's what they said…

What's a big moment at Baudville? Well, it can be a lot of things, but the biggest of big is winning either the management-nominated Inspire Award or the peer-nominated Luminary Award. They winners are always kept a surprise up until the time they're announced at our Year-End Party, which means this first one was quite the feat to pull off!

Today is National Nursing Assistant's Day! A day set aside to celebrate and recognize those who have made it their career to care for the well-being of others. I believe it takes a special person to look outside of themselves and care for others on a daily basis. Nursing Assistants play a large role in their patients' lives, as they often provide as much as 80-90% of the direct care received by residents and clients in long term care facilities.

It seems these days, a lot of us are on autopilot. You know: like when we arrive at our destination, but we don't really remember any part of the ride? Or when we're breezing through our daily transactions and the clerk or server asks how we're doing, but our minds are somewhere else, and so we grunt a quick answer and keep moving? It's easy to overlook the details when we're just trying to get things done, but, as a result, we're missing out on meaningful connections with people, with our surroundings, with the moments that form our days (and others' days, too).
