Last spring, when the view outside my office window was similar, except the leaves were about to burst, not wither, I was feeling a bit feverish. It was as if I had been trapped in a winter terrorland, bundled in wool and bound by snow banks for four straight months. Oh, wait…I was. All of us in Michigan were, and, toward the end, stir and crazy started to get the best of us.

As you know, Halloween is just a few short days away! The suddenly never-ending candy supply at your office may have been a dead giveaway. And, although Halloween is a holiday that is typically set aside for young children, grown-ups are allowed to have a little fun too!

There is no doubt that your social media feed has been full of videos of people completing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Before the social media extravaganza that brought awareness to this debilitating disease, I had only heard of Lou Gehrig's disease. I had no idea what it was or how many people were affected by it. Now that the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has swept the nation by storm, I have done my research and know exactly what it is and you probably do, too. Or, like many of us, you have a personal connection to ALS through a friend, acquaintance, or loved one.  

Most of us think of Labor Day weekend as summer coming to an end: kids are heading back to school and it's usually the last vacation families will take for a while. As sad as it is, it's the truth! Summer is coming to an end, and it's back to routines and business for so many of us.

In my research of the true meaning of Labor Day, I came across some fun facts I wanted to share with you.

Today we celebrate 10% of the population, the right brained, the odd men/women out: the lefties! They may be oddballs but they do have a special day dedicated to them.
