Thursday, we got let out of our “cage” a little early so Baudville could migrate to the zoo! Family and friends joined the roaring company picnic for a night at John Ball Park Zoo. The zoo closed to the public at 5 o’clock, allowing us to roam around free of crowds.

Upon arrival we were greeted by some familiar faces taking pictures, handing out our itinerary, gift cards for food at the Monkey Cafe, and a scavenger hunt filled with questions about the animals we would be encountering that night! If we were feeling adventurous enough we could sign up for camel and zip line rides. Then we were off, free to prowl around in the wild.
    

Whew, six weeks into my internship and I am just getting into the Baudville groove! I got my name plate on my cubicle and can finally clear a paper jam in the printer. But I am constantly experiencing new things about Baudville every day. For example do you know how we actually recognize our employees and co-workers?

What better way to end a short week following a holiday than to celebrate with doughnuts?  

The first Friday in June is National Doughnut Day, a holiday started by the Salvation Army in 1938. National Doughnut Day was created to honor the young women who volunteered during World War I and World War II to feed and encourage soldiers with hand-made doughnuts. These women took their doughnuts onto the battlefields of France to simply offer some comfort and cheer. The tasty treat was so popular with the soldiers that they demanded doughnuts when they returned to the states. And an industry was born! 

This week is spring break for most of the schools in West Michigan. While several of our employees have migrated to warmer climates, we brought fun to work with our own spring break festivities.
