10 Annoying Office Habits You Should Stop Immediately

What do corporate offices like Google, Boeing, Target, and heck, even Baudville have in common?  Other than the obvious similarity… a whole lot of awesome, every single one of these offices is home to at least one loud chewer, incessant throat-clearer, or chronic foot tapper.  When you’re spending over 40 hours a week with the same exact people it can be next to impossible to find everyone’s eccentricities charming.  Nervous that your coworkers find your quirky routines a little less than endearing? Check out the list below to see if you’re committing some of the most heinous office habits…and stop them immediately.

1) Chewing Loudly – No matter how good that leftover lasagna tastes, no one wants to hear your lips smacking from across the room.

2) Eating Pungent Foods at your desk - Oh, you had chicken curry for dinner last night? Greeeeattt....

3) Constantly asking if it’s 5:00 yet – No, it’s not. Keep working.

4) Refusing to respond to emails – Your peeps know you’re in the office. Don’t hinder their productivity simply because you struggle with communication.

5) You steal from the office fridge – “Oh, is that why your name was on that to-go box?”

6) You interrupt – People care exponentially less about what you have to say, when you can’t even wait until the end of their sentence to say it.

7) Coming into the office when you’re sick and then whining about it all day long - A. Please don’t infect your entire department. B. Go have a pity party for yourself at home.

8) Constantly talking about your children – They’re truly adorable, but potty stories get old very quickly.

9) Leaving a mess in the company kitchen – Don’t be that person who leaves the microwave in shambles and the countertops covered in sticky sauce.

10) Grooming yourself at your desk – Please no nail-biting, toe clipping or (heaven forbid) flossing at your desk.

Are you guilty of one or more of these habits? Chances are, you're striking the nerves of some of your team members.  Try to be conscious of how your behavior affects the productivity of others, and everyone will be much happier!

5 Ways to Celebrate National Receptionists Day

May 11 is a day to make a big deal about your organization’s receptionists. They are on the front lines every day: answering customer questions with a smile, scheduling and rescheduling important appointments, and at times holding back their knee-jerk reactions to difficult patrons.

Say it With Care: 8 Ways to Say 'Thank You' to Your Nurses

My sister is a nurse – and boy oh boy do I admire her.  She’s sharp as a tack and caring as all get-out.  Phone conversations with her after she’s pulled a 12-hour shift leave me in awe of her courage and perseverance.   Many of us I’m sure would agree that it takes a very special person to be a nurse.  That’s why we should all take the time next week to send a little extra love to those who keep us calm and healthy during National Nurses Week
