As a creative writing major in college I was required to complete a semester-long internship in the writing field. There weren't many "creative" writing gigs in our town so I opted for grant writing, but at the Children's Museum – at least part of the job had to be fun. Getting a little glimpse into the world of not-for-profit for 8 weeks really opened my eyes to the invaluable gift that volunteers bring to these organizations on a daily basis.

Before I came to work at Baudville, I will have to admit that my volunteer experience was dismal. I had always fallen back on the excuse that I was too busy or just filled my weekend with other plans, as I am sure most of us are guilty of. 

 I bring him up, because he wrote an article the other day about laughter. And, he introduced a stat that children laugh 300 times a day, while adults only laugh about 5 times. Statistically speaking. He gave some reasons on why we laugh less, like how we, as adults, are afraid to look stupid, that we have to do things like take the garbage out, and that we consider it socially unacceptable to laugh at farts. True. All true.

There's a saying out there in the business world: "hire slow, fire fast." Sounds a bit cold, maybe, but I'm thinking if you adhere to the first part, you may never be in the unpleasant situation of facing the second part.
