For Your Next Summer Picnic, Think Outside the Park!

If you’re on an activity planning committee at your workplace, you know how tough it can be to come up with new ideas for fun summer events. You’ve done the ballpark, you’ve done the zoo, you’ve done the ballpark (again!)…hmmm…the natives are starting to get restless for something different.

At Baudville, we’re in the same situation, which is why we decided to put our heads together and conjure up some fresh ideas. For your summer picnic this year, why not try…

Making it a Garden Party. Most cities have botanical gardens that are associated with an area university or institution. And, most have pavilions or picnic areas you can rent for an afternoon. What a great way to get outside, stop and smell the roses, and enjoy some natural beauty—all at the same time! While you’re appreciating your surroundings, don’t forget to appreciate your team with sunny gifts from our Thanks for Making a Difference theme

Visiting a Nature Preserve. Here’s another way to soak in the summer weather while also connecting with the environment and learning about wildlife. If your activities involve employees’ families, this is a perfect opportunity for kids and adults alike to explore a little and play a little, too! Want the perfect giveaway? Stay on theme with our Growing Together gifts. Now, get out those rain boots and go spot some tadpoles!

The End of the School Year is Near!

No more pencils, no more books…no more lunches, I'm off the hook! My oldest son has 2 days left of school and while I am so excited not to have to add 'pack lunch', 'check homework folder', or 'remember backpack' to my nightly to-do list, this time of year is also a great time for reflection and appreciation.

I remember the first day of school like it was yesterday, sending my little guy off on the bus for the very first time for all-day, every day Kindergarten. As he jumped off the bus at school, the principal was there to give each child a high 5 and welcome them to their first big day!

The teachers made school and learning fun, easing their nerves and giving each child newfound confidence for a lifetime of learning.

New friendships blossomed and after-school play dates were penciled in, not only adding to my son's little buddies, but adding some great new friends to my circle, as well.

The Christmas Program featured my younger son, the donkey, who wouldn't keep his hat on or stay in his designated place for the show.

The Spring Program was equally entertaining with singing, dancing, and again my younger son stealing the show by nearly dropping his pants {this kid is a wild card, if you can't tell…}

And as graduation nears, I am sure there will be tears as our precious little Kindergartener makes the step into a GRADE – 1st Grade (it's a big deal when you're six years old).

Throughout every step of the school year, the teachers, the librarians, the administrative staff, the principal, the bus drivers, and the classroom volunteers have all made an impact on my little guys. They've learned colors and numbers, addition and subtraction, reading and writing… Spanish and Music… Art and PE... they've also learned about consequences and forgiveness through the love and guidance of their teachers. Every teacher has made a difference.

Take time to thank them for impacting your little ones in such a big way.

How will you recognize your child's teacher? Even the smallest gesture will
brighten their day!

As a team member since 2005, Falon has worn just about every hat the 'ville has to offer. She's seen both sides of working life — as an employee and as a manager — so if it sounds like she knows what she's talking about, we're pretty sure that's why. When she's not juggling between the IDville and Baudville brands, she's been known to whip up a mean diorama - just like that!

High 5 for Friday: Salad Bars, Sports Cars, and More!

It's been a busy week at Baudville, as we hustle to get all of our work done. Between preparing for our next catalog, being on our best behavior for a new intern, and trying to stay on top of our wellness initiatives, it's been a bit crazyville around here. But, even during wild times, we always find our high five moments. These are mine:

1. Community Salad Bars. As part of our
10-week fitness challenge, we've arranged for a bi-weekly salad bar brought to us by participating teams. Each time, two of our teams collaborate to bring in salad toppings and our company provides the lettuce and salad dressings. We're on our second one, now, and we're pretty much experts!

2. Convertibles! This wonderful weather we've been having has inspired a few of us to enjoy the wind in our hair and the bugs in our teeth! I captured two Baudvillians showing off their rides in the parking lot. Wait, am I seeing double?!

3. Freedom Passes! Reward your hardworking team with these easy downloadable Freedom Passes. You'd be surprised what we'll do to make sure we're prepared and ready to go, should a manager stop by at about 4:00 on Friday afternoon and grant us the rest of the day off. (Hint, hint.) You can download them here, share the freedom!

4. New Products. I have sworn an oath to never give away the details of our
new products before they're on the shelves (so to speak), but I can tell you that we have about 150 coming your way on July 1st. We're photographing them this week, and I have to tell you: they are supremely awesome! Stay tuned!

5. Abundant Showers Bring Abundant Flowers. We do live in Michigan, so one moment we're basking in the sun and then 15 minutes later we're running from the rain—downpouring rain that lasts for three days straight! If there's a great thing about it, it has to be what it does for the garden. Mine is now bursting with blooms...and, hey: the sun is back out!
