Yesterday was National Have Fun at Work Day and Baudville, never one to ignore a holiday, partied like it was 1999 2016!

Baudville is known for epic employee appreciation events. When I started working here, one of the first things I heard about was the year-end holiday party and all of the amazing ways that Baudville uses that party to make sure their employees feel warm and fuzzy all year round. This Thursday, January, 28th is Fun at Work Day and wouldn’t you know, we’re back at it planning another event for our team!

I’m brand spankin’ new to the ‘ville (that’s what they call Baudville around these parts). As the new Marketing Coordinator, I’ll be talking printer-ese, corralling creatives for our catalogs, and writing headlines and blog posts about Baudville’s #1 passion, employee recognition!

In the beginning of 2015, we made six “Human Resource Resolutions” to increase employee engagement, build stronger teams, celebrate everyone, work on event participation and planning, recruit top talent, and reduce employee turnover. If you missed it, we took a deep-dive into what matters in key areas to jumpstart your new year in the workplace from an HR standpoint. Time flies! Now that we’re already a week in to 2016, it’s likely that you’ve made some resolutions for this year, too! And, if you haven’t, we’d encourage the resolutions above, or a simpler, broader, resolution: a Recognition Resolution!

This past year at the 2015 SHRM Annual Conference and Exposition and WorldatWork Conference, we talked with more than 2,000 HR Managers about employee recognition, engagement, retention, and culture.

Research and experience tells us that the way your employees interact with one another has an enormous impact on company culture and retention. And, based on what we heard from the attendees, 59% of HR Managers reported positive employee-to-employee relationships. Of those (and we we’re particularly surprised) 40% have a peer-to-peer recognition program in place!
